Goodbye Facebook - The End of an Era

A little over a week ago, I said goodbye to Facebook. I deactivated my account, and I must say I haven't missed it one bit. Of course, some of the games were great fun. As regular readers will know, I did enjoy to play Mob Wars, Mafia Wars, FarmVille, Airport City - Free to Fly and some of the other games.

It has been an interesting time. This blog did begin to take on a life of its own. Maybe you want to continue this blog. If so please write me, either in the comments field or by clicking my G+ profile. I should be fairly easy to find. I am willing to turn over this blog to whosoever might be able to continue the theme of Facebook games. I have written an e-book about my decision entitled The Book Facebook Doesn't Want You to Read which is available from here: www.blunck.dk/facebook.

Have fun out there, and thanks for following my scriblings. Hope someone comes along with a desire to continue what I started.

Goodbye, FarmVille 2

In continuation of the last article "FarmVille 2 - Slower Than Ever Before", I now made a conscious decision this morning as a result of the ongoing "please update your flash player" welcome screen.

All programs are already up-to-date, and I find it rather annoying that this error presents itself on numerous screens all over the place. Friends have been frustrated when this came up, and each time I could just repeat the same advice. Try updating, and if it keeps coming up, delete the game.

Well, today, it was my turn to delete the game...

FarmVille 2 Slower Than Ever Before...

It is kind of surprising to watch the game FarmVille 2. They keep adding features, and the game is slower than ever before... Stop developing crazy movies, and start focusing on improving the speed of the game.
This is a typical case of game overload. When you fail to optimize your code [and servers], then gameplay will suffer in any Flash game.
I hope Zynga is listening...

Another Quick Status Update

Today I want to give you a quick status update.
In Mafia Wars I have reached level 665
In Mob Wars I have reached level 837.
In Criminal Case I have reached level 43 - and well on my way towards completely solving case #12.
In FarmVille 2 I have reached level 53 - all animals are well fed, friends have been visited, and numerous gold medals have been achieved in recent animal shows.

A Quick Status Update

Today I want to give you a quick status update.
In Mob Wars I have reached level 814.
In Criminal Case I have reached level 36 - and well on my way towards completely solving case #9.
In Mafia Wars I have reached level 660 - and well on my way in the latest addition to the game play, South Africa.
In FarmVille 2 I have reached level 46 - all animals are well fed, friends have been visited, and a recent gold medal was reached in the recent animal show.

Zynga: Focus On Your Bandwidth

Whether it's a question of bandwidth or programming, I really don't know. But what I do know is that a game such as FarmVille 2 is losing the connection far too often. Once you have visited 20+ farms - and friends do help one another, as I have often focused upon on this blog - you end up losing the connection.

And everybody knows that games programmed in Flash can already be a challenge. So please do remember to clean your cache, Zynga. There must be some rather buggy challenges you have overlooked since it's especially FarmVille 2 that has this problem.

Good luck in reviewing your source code. It is important in attracting more users that your servers are running at optimum speed at all times... :-)

FarmVille 2 on Facebook

As regular readers know, I have always advocated that social games require a social mindset. The best way to get ahead in levels is always to get a bunch of neighbors, and help them.

There's both free money and free XP points to be gained from this so you should get involved in these games by helping neighbors.

If you haven't already played FarmVille 2, I'll have to say it is a major improvement over the previous FarmVille, and Zynga have definitely made an effort in creating nice sounds that go with feeding cattle...
